In order to direct the flow of discharged hot water towards outside, plumping codes will require a discharge pipe to be connected to the valve. There are some building codes that do allow the discharge pipe that is connected to the valve to terminate in the garage.
Plumping codes will be required to be placed a height of above 46 cm if the fired water heater is installed in the garage in order to reduce any potential of fire explosion that may be caused by the leakage of combustible liquids that are found in the garage.
